Hockey Edmonton Players Named “Players of the Month” by Hockey Alberta
Congratulations to the following players who have been honored as Hockey Alberta's AFHL and AEHL "Players of the Month" for October 2024:
AEHL Players of the Month:
U18 AAA – Ethan Berard (Edm Jr. Oilers Blue – G) (4GP, 1.75 GAA, .933 GAA)
In what is one of the most competitive divisions in the province, there are no easy nights to be a U18 AAA goaltender, yet Ethan Berard has risen to the occasion in all four starts in October, posting a perfect 4-0-0 record. His play has been the backbone of the Oilers Blue hot start, establishing them as the #2 team in the North Division. Berard will look to maintain his #1 position in GAA in U18 AAA through a tough November schedule.U18 AA North Metro – Cooper Allan (SSAC Don Wheaton – F) (4G, 1A, 5P, 6GP)
Cooper has been counted on to bring a high level of compete to SSAC Don Wheaton and game-in-game-out he has delivered. With 4 goals in October, the third-year player refused to take the easy route, scoring two while his team was shorthanded.
U15 AA North Metro – Taylor Mowbray (KC Shamrocks – F) (7G, 4A, 11P, 7GP)
The first-year U15 AA player has demonstrated maturity beyond his years through one month with KC, leading the team in points with 11 while establishing himself equally as one of the most reliable defensive forwards on the team. Avoid visits to the penalty box vs the Shamrocks: Mowbray has found the back of the net four times on the powerplay already this season.
U13 AAA – Benjamin Kalinocka (MLAC Trusted Trades – F) (2G, 3A, 5P, 8GP)
As the first U13 AAA captain in the historic MLAC program’s history, Kalinocka has combined consistent offense with exceptional leadership on and off the ice. The tone Ben has set is being embraced by his teammates, who have carried MLAC Trusted Trades to third place in the standings.
AFHL Players of the Month:
U18 AAA – Ciara Lang (Edmonton Jr. Oilers White – D) (3G, 2A, 5P, 4GP)
The 2024-25 season has already brought with a number of milestones for smooth-skating defender Ciara Lang. In addition to averaging more than a point per game, the second year Oilers player competed at Hockey Canada’s Women’s Under-18 Team Selection Camp in early August, then reported for Provincial Duty as part of Team Alberta at the U18 Women’s National Championships in New Brunswick. Lang will play a key role in the Jr. Oilers White hopes to repeat as AFHL and Pacific Regional Champions, and earn another bid to the Esso Cup.
