Hockey Edmonton Players Named “Players of the Month” by Hockey Alberta

Congratulations to the following players who have been honoured as Hockey Alberta's U11 AA and AEHL "Players of the Month" for December 2024 and January 2025:

U11 AA Player of the Month:

North Blue Division – Elijah Smitke (SEERA Stealth – F)
Elijah has 14 points in his team’s 14 games. With eight (8) goals and six (6) assists, his coaching staff say he is an excellent player and leader on the ice, especially as a nine-year-old! Elijah is the sole first-year forward on his team, and you would never be able to tell with the amount of skill he already shows.

AEHL Players of the Month:

U13 AA North Metro – Colson Shields (MLAC Pursuit of Motion Physio – F)
In December, Colson emerged as a pivotal player, making contributions on both the offensive and defensive sides of the puck, which played a crucial role in the team’s success. His outstanding performances helped the Leafs secure victories in 3 out of 4 games during the month, with Colson notably collecting three points in each matchup. His all-around excellence on the ice has bolstered the team’s morale and solidified his status as a key player to watch moving forward.

U15 AA North Metro – Jacob Hore (CAC Imperial Equities – F)
Jacob has grown as a leader on and off the ice, elevating his performance in December. He played a pivotal role in his team’s success, accumulating nine points in five games. He helped his team secure vital points by registering three multi-point games, allowing them to rise to second place in the Capital Division.

U16 AA North Metro – Benjamin Owzcarek (KC Spurs – D)
Throughout December, Benjamin was a solid anchor on the back end, showcasing poise and reliability while maintaining a plus-six rating. He also contributed offensively with two multi-point performances. Off the ice, Ben is a true leader, setting an example with his dedication and sportsmanship. His performance and attitude make him an outstanding candidate for this recognition.

U16 AA North Metro – Desmond Campbell (CAC United Cycle – F)
During a perfect January, Desmond Campbell was the driving force behind the Canadian’s offensive success, leading them to an outstanding 7-0 record. His impact was undeniable, consistently stepping up in key moments and delivering dominant performances throughout the month. Over the seven-game stretch, Desmond showcased his elite scoring touch and playmaking ability, tallying an impressive nine goals and six assists. Whether finishing plays with precision or creating opportunities for his teammates, he was a catalyst in every game, setting the tone for teammates and leading by example. Desmond’s consistency, skill, and leadership were instrumental in our flawless month, making him a deserving candidate for AEHL Player of the Month.

U18 AA North Metro – Raphael Colin (KC Colts – F)
Raphael led the Colts in scoring in the month of January and has been a consistent performer for the team every game. He sets himself apart at both ends of the rink with his work ethic, strong will, and competitive level.
